I agree, a follower of Jesus is absolutely the best person for this type of job. If they really are walking in the power of the Holy Spirit, they should be able to control their anger, treating the prisoner strongly without losing control. I agree wit Michael, tho. Those people are hard to find. Do you think you could do it?

just because you are a follower of jesus does not mean you dont value human life, and vise-versa, i agree with you in theory, but i think people other than followers of jesus qualify just as much. many if not most of the jesus followers i know i wouldnt think are quite able to do that, emotionally at least.

Go ahead and finish the statement: "...preservation of life" - what life? What life or lifestyle are you supporting? The one where the West doesn't just drive cars but is driven by cars, which need gasoline, so we can fulfill our American dream of consumption. Every one of us participates in terrorism and war (over resources) when we base our way of life on the poverty and oppression of others. Christian interrogators? I suppose. But for what end? Finish the statement. I say to Jesus followers: "via crux" - the follower of Jesus should be in solidarity with the sinner, take their place if possible, pity them, descend to them, with them. This is incarnation, this is our calling. Declare what you are trying to preserve, and choose carefully who you name as "the innocent."

Wow. I suppose I would most trust someone deeply committed to following Jesus to be able to stop interrogation at the right point. But it doesn't generally seem to work that way. I'm too soft to handle stuff like interrogation, and I think most christians are. How about you guys? So we job it out to the people who don't mind doing it, and try to think of something else. Military special ops may be a similar case. I think that most of us probably have no idea what we're talking about though. :)

BTW, Joe Navarro, a former FBI interrogator with something like 12,000 interrogations under his belt, comments that brutal interrogation methods simply are not effective. Read about it here: http://www.sptimes.com/2007/05/25/Features/Signal_flair.shtml

Thanks for putting those thoughts down. I think I'd take a similar view to your own. I think any idea of aggression seems to have lost credibility because of some of the random, non information related, attacks on prisoners by soldiers and the like. But your right, we do need to do everything we can to extract information that would lead to the preservation of life.
